Halloween Costume Inspiration: Original 1974 Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty Halloween Costume Inspiration

About a month ago I received a Halloween costume catalog and I flipped through it to get some ideas for the Tiny Dancer.  I came across some Yo Gabba Gabba costumes and showed them to her, excited to see if she would pick out a favorite.  She liked seeing the costumes but I don’t think she understood my questions asking her which costume was her favorite.  Even if she had picked a favorite, the smallest size was still way too big for her so I knew that I had to take a different approach to Hallween this year.

This Halloween is probably the last year that I will be choosing the Tiny Dancer’s costume so I chose something that I thought the both of us would approve of – Hello Kitty!  But not nouveau pink Hello Kitty – I mean original 1974 red and blue Hello Kitty.  The clothing part of the costume is pretty straight forward – white shirt, blue jumper, red bow.  Red bow! There are so many ways to convey the giant red bow.  I’m deciding between a headband with a bow and painting the Tiny Dancer’s face, a Hello Kitty hat or a giant Hello Kitty “bonnet” so to speak.  Either way, it’s going to be DIY as I want to make the costume for her.  I think I’m leaning toward making a giant bonnet the only real issue is whether she will keep something on her head!  I’ll keep you posted with how the progress goes and show you how I make the costume.

Awwww, how adorable Tiny Dancer will be for Halloween! I don’t even know if my mom dressed me up in my early years, I only know of elementary. Hehe.

LOVE IT! I totally wanna be old school, O.G. Hello Kitty!!

My little one picked out her costume – Jasmine from Aladdin. The best part is that she has never seen the movie but going through a big time Jasmine phase. It was Rapunzel two months ago. The best costume I picked for her…Tootsie Roll when she was 3 months old!
