Shutterfly Holiday Card Collection

I love taking pictures.  One of my fondest memories growing up is having my dad teach me how to take pictures on a vintage manual Nikon.  Once I got the hang of it, he got me my own Nikomat to play around with.  As digital cameras got more popular, my husband and I amassed a small collection of digital cameras – each for different types of photography/occasions.  Digital photography is fantastic and can make a photographer out of the most artistically challenged.  But, one thing I missed about shooting with film was the anticipation of going to pick up your developed pictures and actually having physical photos.  Ever since I’ve had a digital camera I’ve ceased printing pictures – I look at all my photos on a computer screen – a very sad state of affairs.

Earlier this year I had a baby and I knew that looking at photos on a computer screen was no longer going to cut it for me (or the family).  I heard about Shutterfly and how easy and inexpensive it was to print photos so I logged on to check it out.  The moment you start an account I was given a code for free photos – Score!  When I logged in and uploaded my photos Shutterfly created a photo book for me.  I thought it would make a perfect gift for family members from the Tiny Dancer so I went ahead and customized my own photo book.  I received the books and free prints in a matter of days and was ecstatic with the price and quality.

When I was contacted about writing a post about Shutterfly’s holiday card collection I didn’t hesitate because I’ve had a great experience with them.  I went online to check out the collection and expected to see a few designs and was shocked to see that Shutterfly had 748 designs to choose from.  They have a huge selection of Christmas cards but also have non-denominational holiday photo cards, and even New Year’s cards. There are tons of options to choose from as well: Folding cards, flat cards, different paper types, colors, styles and designers.

I tested out a few options (pictured above) and had a hard time choosing my favorites, but my top three designs are Big Red Bow (top row, left side), Glitter Glamour Joy (top row, right side) and Blurred Edge Folded Card (center).  I tend to like simple/minimal design elements and letting the photo do all the talking which is why I love these designs.  Big Red Bow is lovely for Christmas because I love seeing the Tiny Dancer wrapped up like a gift.  I love Glitter Glamour because it’s non-denominational but festive at the same time.  My favorite is Blurred Edge because it’s all about the Tiny Dancer and it’s a traditional folded card that we can put either more photos and/or our own text inside.  The husband and I have been really bad at sending out holiday cards but now with the Tiny Dancer, we’re looking forward to sending our love to family and friends with Shutterfly’s holiday cards.
