Last spring Diane von Furstenberg teamed up with GAP to produce a collection of childrenswear for GapKids. Lucky for us Dian von Furstenberg has designed another collection for GapKids for Spring 2013. The limited edition Explorers Collection launches on April 25th and features the vibrant prints have made DVF so famous. On April 27th, select GapKids locations will have a fun in-store event to celebrate the launch featuring refreshments and activities. To see if there is an event near you visit Gap.com/DVF.
Earlier this week was picture day at my daughter’s school – it was her first picture day every so we were both excited for the occasion. At first I was going to put a fancy dress on her but then I thought about it and since it’s a school picture I went with an outfit that was adorable but not overly dressy. Here’s what she wore from head to toe:
Headband: babyGap
Top: babyGap
Leggings: Old Navy
Shoes: Zara Kids
Trends come and go but some patterns and materials are classic and never go out of style. When I think about spring fashion, I can’t help but think of seersucker. And I’m not alone! Most of the kid’s clothing stores I shop at had some type of seersucker offering for the little ones. Here are some of my favorites…
I’m in New York covering my first New York Children’s Fashion Week and I’ve never seen so many adorable children and outfits in one place. On Saturday, I visited Children’s Fashion Week’s version of the “tents”/Lincoln Center called Petite Parade. The two day event consists of runway shows of the latest children’s wear collections modeled by mini-models on the catwalk. Saturday I watched five back-to-back shows and thought one collection was cuter than the next. I’ve got two big days ahead of me this week as I’m going to walk two children’s wear trade shows. I’m collecting all my data and taking lots of pictures and I’ll be back later in the week with LOTS of coverage. Until then, here’s a little something for you…

Little Warriors is back with a spring collection inspired by the sea. I love this line because it’s not too cutesy and it’s not mini-adult clothing – it’s just perfect play clothes for children to have the freedom to run around and be themselves. Check out the clothing in action in the Little Warriors video below…
Most of the outfits I show on the site are of the Tiny Dancer’s dressier clothes – stuff that we go out in. But most days, when we’re just chillin’ at home we both like to dress comfortably – think sweat pants – grey preferably. Here’s a typical outfit that’s perfect for running, tumbling, falling and eating berries with abandon.
One of the biggest trends for Fall/Winter are fur vests – but even the lil’ ones can get in on the action. Fur vests (faux or not) are great layering pieces, provide warmth and look adorable. Whether your little girls prefers, girly, leopard or puppy ears, there’s something for every budding fashion lover.
With the holidays coming, that also means finding the perfect dressy coat for all of those family outings and visits. The kids have to look cute for grandma, no? This year red, black and leopard seemed to be very popular – or maybe that’s just what my eyes naturally gravitate too. Either way, black coats are great staples and red or leopard coats are really nice statement pieces. If you’re not in the market for several coats this season (who can blame you the way they grow out of clothes!), these coats aren’t too dressy – you can definitely wear them everyday – they may be cute but they’ll still keep the little ones warm. Here are my favorite coats – that look fabulous with dresses or jeans…
Autumn is officially here so now it’s time to break out the layers. We spent last Saturday in San Francisco – started out early at the Ferry Terminal for some Blue Bottle coffee and a waffle and then went shopping. The Tiny Dancer hit the town in style in a babygap ensemble. Here’s what she wore:
I’ve been a Zara for about ten years when I discovered the brand on a trip to Portugal and Spain. Since then, I’m always checking out the new collections and look books online but I would have to trek to the stores to purchase products. Last month, Zara launched an online shop in the United States. Yes! I was sent a promo code to test out the site and I was very happy with the online experience.
Shopping on Zara.com is seamless. The products are organized well and have great images from many angles. You can even enlarge an item so that it’s bigger than your screen – a first for my online shopping experience. My order arrived promptly several days after I placed it and e-mail communication let me know about every update in the order process. One of my favorite things about shopping online with Zara was that my package was wrapped. Yes, the cardboard box had a plastic sleeve encasing it which was perfect because it was raining the day it arrived. Wet cardboard boxes are my pet peeve so I think Zara went above and beyond with the plastic sleeve on the box. So easy, yet goes a long way in customer service.
You can see the items I purchased with my promo code pictured above. The jacket is for The Tiny Dancer and the shoes and cardigan are for moi. I’ve already worn the shoes out and received lots of compliments. They are really cute – my new favorite – and super comfortable. I was a bit weary of ordering online without trying the stuff on but I used the Zara size chart and everything fit fine – on me and The Tiny Dancer.
Now that I can shop online I will probably be spending more money on Zara because I can do so from the comfort of my couch. Check out the experience for yourself on Zara.com. Happy Shopping!
